The Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Retail, will be hiring mode in a big way, as the company attempts to dive deep into India's estimated $400 billion retail market.
According to Andy Campbell, chief brand officer, Reliance Retail, "We want to increase our employee strength by 93,000 at all levels across, mainly the value formats. We would like to hire middle and senior management level employees mainly from retail, FMCG and other sectors too. We will definitely have to hire front-end staff."
Bijou Kurien, chief executive lifestyle business segment of Reliance Retail, said on the sidelines of the India Retail Forum 2010, " We plan to open 3,000 to 4,000 stores across all our existing 19 formats in four years in tier-I cities. Our expansion plan will be funded out of the $6 billion investment first announced in 2006."
He further added, " We will only look at the top eight cities for expansion and then look at tier-II cities after exhausting the former."
At present, Reliance Retail has 660 stores in 100 cities.
